Study in Germany

Germany is famous for its tuition-free or near-free education at public universities for all students regardless of nationality. Engineering and technical programs at TU Munich, RWTH Aachen, and KIT are world-class. German is required for most programs, though English-taught MSc programs are growing.

Student visa

Indian students need a national (D) student visa from the German Embassy or Consulates in India. Applications typically require the university admission letter, proof of funds (usually a blocked account), health insurance and academic documents. Check india.diplo.de for current requirements.

Scholarships

DAAD scholarships support master's and doctoral study. Public universities charge little or no tuition, which keeps overall costs low.

Planning your application

Most universities in Germany ask for academic transcripts, a statement of purpose, letters of recommendation and English test scores, and some programmes also need GRE, GMAT or SAT scores. Start 12 to 18 months before your intended intake.
