GATE 2026 Notification Released: New Papers, Registration Dates and Key Changes
IIT Roorkee has released the GATE 2026 notification. The exam will be held in February 2026 with registration opening in August 2025. A new paper on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) has been added.
GATE 2026 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee across 30 papers in February 2026. GATE scores are used for M.Tech/PhD admissions at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and for PSU recruitment.
Key Changes in GATE 2026
- **New Paper:** Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) with enhanced syllabus
- **Two New Sections:** Statistics and Computational Intelligence added to existing papers
- **Revised Syllabus:** CS, EE, and ME syllabi updated

PSU Recruitment via GATE 2026
Over 25 PSUs recruit engineers through GATE scores (CTC: INR 8–18 LPA). Key PSUs: ONGC, BHEL, NTPC, IOCL, HPCL, BARC, DRDO, GAIL, BPCL.
Preparation Timeline
With registration in August 2025 and exam in February 2026, candidates have 6-7 months. Recommend 1-2 topics per week with weekly mock tests for IIT M.Tech aspirants.
