The Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme 2025-26 is open for applications at the National Scholarship Portal. Ex-servicemen and coast guard wards can receive up to INR 3,000 per month for professional degree courses.
The Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) provides financial assistance to wards and widows of ex-servicemen and ex-coast guard personnel pursuing professional degree programmes.
Scholarship Amount
- **Boys:** INR 2,500 per month | **Girls:** INR 3,000 per month
- Duration covers the full programme (up to 5 years for B.Tech/MBBS)
Eligible Programmes
B.Tech/BE, MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, BBA, B.Ed, and other AICTE/MCI-recognised courses at accredited institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Ward or widow of an ex-serviceman or ex-coast guard personnel
- Minimum 60% marks in Class 12 board examinations
- Enrolled in first year of a recognised professional course
- Annual family income below INR 6 lakh per year
How to Apply
1. Visit **scholarships.gov.in** (National Scholarship Portal)
2. Register with Aadhaar-linked mobile number
3. Complete fresh/renewal application form
4. Upload required documents: Discharge certificate, Class 12 marksheet, admission letter, bank passbook, income certificate
5. Submit before the October deadline
Other Central Scholarships
Central Sector Scholarship (INR 10,000/year for top 0.1% Class 12 scorers), National Means cum Merit Scholarship, and Pragati Scholarship for girl students in technical education.
