The UGC has directed all universities and affiliated colleges to fully implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework from the 2025-26 academic year.
The 4-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) The most significant change is the shift from a 3-year to a **4-year undergraduate programme** with flexible exit and entry options: - **Exit after Year 1:** Certificate - **Exit after Year 2:** Diploma - **Exit after Year 3:** Bachelor's Degree - **Exit after Year 4:** Bachelor's with Research / Honours Degree
Students exiting early can re-enter within 7 years through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system.
