Indian Institute of Remote Sensing formerly known as Indian Photo-interpretation Institute (IPI) is a training and education arm of the Indian Department of Science. The institute offers research, higher education, and training in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and Environmental and Disaster Management, GPS Technology for Natural Resources. IIRS offers various graduate courses as well as Post Graduate courses. Participants above 30,000 have benefitted so far from IIRS Outreach Programmes. Admission to the institute is done on the basis of marks secured in the entrance examination conducted at institute’s level.
