Government Polytechnic Kohima is located on a hillock which is 5 km away from the main city with a panoramic view of the capital city, Kohima. It was established in 1994 and initially, the institute used to cater only to girls but was later made co-educational. It is currently functioning under the aegis of the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
