English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, formerly known as Central Institute of English was established in 1958. The aim of EFLU was to impart quality training for teachers in English which further introduced additional foreign languages such as Arabic, French, German, Japanese, etc. and was hence renamed as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. English and Foreign Languages University is accredited by NAAC with an A Grade. The University was ranked in the 151-200 rank band of University category as per NIRF 2023 rankings.
