Annamalai Polytechnic College (APC) Chettinad at Sivaganga was established in 1956 by Dr. Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettier. The institution is governed by the Rajah Muthiah Chettiar Charitable and Educational Trust. The College is a govt-aided institution providing technical education and training to men and women at post-secondary school level with its diploma courses. From 1979 onwards, the institution through its Community Polytechnic Scheme serves the nearby rural community by its courses. This scheme operates under the guidance of MHRD of Indian Government. The placements opportunities are decent here and many women empowerment events are conducted periodically.
