Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public central university in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1920, AMU is affiliated with UGC and a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The NAAC also accredits it with an ‘A+’ grade. According to the NIRF 2024 rankings, AMU ranked 16 overall in India. In global rankings, it has been placed in the 601 band by Times Higher Education (2024). AMU is also ranked 1001 at the global level by the QS World University Rankings 2023.
